Advanced Communications for an
Enterprise Tablet

With all the hype surrounding consumer tablets, they’re neither meeting nor anticipating the needs of industrial and field applications. DAP’s rugged M9010 is leading the enterprise tablet revolution with advanced communication tools that you can put to work right now to lower operating costs and increase efficiencies.

Wireless USB

The M9010 offers wireless USB to connect the next generation of handheld scanners, headsets, printers and more. Using ultra-wideband technology, the M9010 can stream data, voice, and HD video at high speeds while still maintaining efficient power consumption.

Connecting peripherals by a series of cords limits mobility of tablet computers. Unplug corded peripherals and restore freedom of movement to your workforce, with speeds similar to that of wired USB devices:

  • 10 meters (33 feet) for speeds of 110 Mbps
  • 3 meters (10 feet) for speeds of 480 Mbps

ZigBee Wireless Technology

It would be easy to underestimate the problem-solving potential of ZigBee technology. But these tiny sensors deliver big performance in an ever-growing number of industries.

The appeal of ZigBee lies in its ability to be read at a long range (up to 30 meters, or almost 100 feet), while being purchased at a low-cost and consuming very little power. The can also be networked into self-healing mesh networks that extend the range of multiple sensors by miles.

While developers are working on new applications for ZigBee, here are just a few of the current ways the M9010 with integrated ZigBee can be used to solve problems in a variety of industries.

  • Asset tracking – Using ZigBee for asset tracking can improve supply chain performance. Ease of implementation means streamlined systems can be implemented quickly and at low cost.
  • Meter reading – ZigBee can be used to automate meter reading, removing the inconvenience of customers reporting their own data and the scheduling hassles of a vast workforce of meter readings. Extended read ranges and self-healing mesh networks simplify and streamline meter readings and result in greater accuracy.
  • Building automation – HVAC, lights, security systems, access control and structural integrity monitoring can be managed with low-cost ZigBee sensors that can be easily repositioned and require very little maintenance. With a mesh ZigBee network, a DAP M9010 tablet could control systems for the entire building.
  • Trucking and transportation – Monitor the temperature of cargo, tire pressure and more with low-cost ZigBee sensors that are automatically read by the DAP M9010 tablet and reported to dispatch. Identify and repair vulnerabilities before they become liabilities.

Gobi 3000 for Mobile Broadband

The Gobi™ 3000 embedded module allows the M9010 to connect to multiple broadband carriers for truly mobile internet. With carrier-independent mobile broadband, your field workers can connect to virtually any carrier network, eliminating the communications outages associated with crossing county lines or traveling into rural areas. And with no need for region-specific hardware devices, IT and support costs are reduced.
